The Private Project

View Full Profile

'The Private Project' is a small collection of musicians & vocalists from Switzerland forming officially in 2003 whilst performing as part of live Drum & Bass band 'Elektrodelux'. The first TPP album 'Competition' was released on N-Gage records, Switzerland in Autumn 2004 & produced by founding members Fred Herrmann & Transition. Vocalist 'Transition' was born in the UK & spent most of his life as a DJ/MC & has worked for WEA records, Southern Record Distribution (SRD), Island, Tommy Boy & Reinforced records artists amongst others. Fred who was born in Switzerland & has some French roots has a whole portfolio of international artists to boast about & is a relatively young producer & has allround talent in production, engineering, playing drums & most other instruments. Lead vocalist Nza was born in Jamaica & has been prolific with Switzerland as her base for the last decade working with top European & native producers too numerous to mention & has her own music on rotation on many Swiss & west european radio stations. The three original 'Projekt' members started out recording to see what might happen after a hunch things could be good & went on to develop their distinctive sound whilst in the studio, eventually recording enough tracks to make a 'concept' album. Without 'live' performances behind them, many of the songs were one-take affairs & in a sense live though in reality TPP have still not played a gig, odd really when all members independently perform with various entourages on a weekly basis & met this way. Mystery surrounds the band itself though not intentionally, the studio sessions were quite demanding on 'the project' for the first album which was recorded in Basel (3-floors underground) at Grooveyard under fairly unusual circumstances & since this time band members were very busy with other commitments, TPP it must be said, needs no media frenzy anyway...
